Is there a quick & easy way to convert a Built-In RDLC Format report to Word? For instance report: 399 Remittance Advice - Journal - doesn't have a Word version, only RDLC. We have a requirement to use it with 'Use for Email Body' switched on in 'Report Selection' page, but when we do, we get the error below:-

Validation Results
Report 399 uses the RDLC which cannot be used as an email body.

Or do I have to clone and re-author the report in Word using the exported RDLC report as reference. Could be quite time consuming and knotty?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am afraid you have to re-author it in word.

But it is not that time consuming that you might think at first.

Unfortunately, as far as I know, there is no convenient way, you have to re-customize a new Word Layout.

PS: You can add your idea to the BC Ideas below, and if there are enough votes, Microsoft will consider adding it to the standard feature.

I usually just rebuild them in word which takes anywhere from 30-90 minutes per report depending on the content.

For the issue you're having you need to use repeaters in word. This is a slightly different example but the same process applies. Select the entire row in the table in word:

In your XML Mapping pane right click and set as "Repeating":

Repeaters can't be set on a sub-value of a section, in my screenshot above I have Gen_Journal_Line and below it is AccNo or Amt. Only the Gen_Journal_Line can be set as a repeater.

I usually recommend users work with a partner when working with repeaters as they can get a bit tricky to work with.
