Hi,

I have recently imported Microsoft Activity Feeds solution to my On-prem CRM 2011. I am not able to create a "Post Configuration". When I type "incident" in New Post config and hit save, everything gets greyed and stays like that. After some time i will get a generic error "An error occured, try this action again.

Environment details:

2 server configuration:

Server 1:

SQL Database and reporting services

Server 2:

CRM web server, ADFS, Email router.

CRM build : 5.0.9688.1533

Claims and IFD is configured and working perfectly.

Where do I start troubleshooting for this issue? Let me know if you need any more details.

Thanks,

Dhruva

    Hi Dhruva,

    Hope you are doing well.

Could you please confirm me if you are following the instructions as there in :blogs.msdn.com/.../how-to-enable-an-entity-to-use-activity-feeds-solution.aspx .

If while following the same instructions you are getting the same behavior then my next questions would be :

    1. Are you observing the same behavior on other systems also.

    2. What security role you have in CRM server

    3. Are you getting any error message in the event viewer when it is hanging?

    4. Are you doing these actions from the Web client or if you are using the CRM 2011 Outlook client

Please update me and i will look into this again and share more information with you.

    Thanks,

    Mohammad

    Hi Atif,

I am doing fine. How are you?

We have created a MS case and got it resolved.

Issue was that CRM web server is in DMZ and was not able to contact DC and hence getting hung while creating a Post Configs.

So we added a Reg key having the name of DC to MSCRM hive, which resolved the issue. This also resolved the issue with Deployment manager getting hung while opening.

    Thanks.

Hi Dhruva Can you please let me know what the reg change was? Im experiencing the exact same issue as you have, including the delay in opening up Deployment Manager

I added server name as a string in the registry on the app server, but I'm still experiencing same issue.

Here you go, Reg information below:

    1. Go to the following registry hive: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MSCRM

    2. Add a new String value that is named PreferredDc.

    3. Specify the domain controller that you want. Typically, this is the closest domain controller.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks so much for your reply Dhruva. It unfortunately didnt seem to work. Did you only use the DC name or did you use the FQDN? Thanks again for your response!

I have the DC host name not FQDN. Have you placed your CRM app server in DMZ? Is DC name resolvable and pingable?

Thank you Dhruva. Looks like I was entering the name of the key incorrectly. When I changed it to PreferredDC it worked great! Really appreciate your response!
