DYNAMICS GP October release and TLS 1.2

I just finished on upgrade to GP 18.3.1200 on a W2019 server using SQL 2019. The problem I have is that none of the workstations can connect because the ODBC connection fails. This is not a firewall issue. They have disabled TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 on the server. How do I correct this? I though the TLS issue only affected eMails and the web client.

    Hey Richard,

I have seen this before, and resolved it downloading the Microsoft® SQL Server® 2012 Native Client - QFE:
    www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

This is noted on Dan's TLS 1.0 blog here:
    community.dynamics.com/.../dynamics-gp-and-tls-1-0

I would use this instead of 13, which I am honestly not sure GP will see.

Otherwise, I was able to troubleshoot using the Test ODBC Connection button that pops up after everything. This gave me an error, which when searched on returned results for TLS issues. This lead me to looking in Dan's blog since I remembered it mentioned.

Hopefully if the issue continues past installing the SQL update, then looking through Event Viewer or the Test ODBC results will help.

I have been told to install ODBC 13.

Because it happened to me too, that is how I fixed the ODBC connection to SQL server 2019 even firewall was off.

I could try that but why would I need to that if the firewall is off?

    Hi Richard,

Have you tried to open the SQL port on the firewall even it is turned off? Nothing to do with TLS 1.0 or 1.1 as I know.

    Rob
