Team membership from Active Directory group

My company uses several products that are integrating with our new CRM-based system. Various CRM entities will link to entities in these other systems and I would like the CRM access rights to match those on the other systems.

We currently use a number of Active Directory groups for managing security on these other systems. Is there a built-in mechanism in CRM or any third party solutions that can populate CRM teams automatically from Active Directory groups? Ideally this would regularly synchronise with AD so that the team members were consistent with group members as the AD group membership changed.

Thanks,

Clint

    Hi Clint,

There is nothing out of the box that does this that I am aware of.  However, using the sdk, it would be relatively straight forward to create a system that maintains team membership based on active directory groups.  Active directory also has a good programming interface where you can query group membership.

    Any update to this?

Hi Joe, one of my developers has done what Alex has suggested and develop a custom integration using the SDKs that are available for both products.

There might be a third-party app available that achieves a similar result, but not many of the CRM customers I have worked with have ever needed such a feature so none of the integration solutions I'm aware of offer this as an advertised feature.

    Hi Clint,

If you are still looking for a solution, then we have one in latest D365. While creating a team in D365 then we can mentioned Team Type as AAD Security or Office type of group and need to provide AAD Object ID. Upon creation of such team, D365 will automatically sync users of AAD group with D365 team. Users permissions can be managed by assigning a security role to that team.

    Refer docs.microsoft.com/.../manage-teams for more info.

No other SDK programming is required.
