Hi everyone!

My first question, can we buy ax modules separately? Or do we have to buy the entire ERP package?

I'm currently doing a projet for my school and the hotel group I'm working on seems to have the HR and accounting module but does not have any reporting solution, so they obviously don't have the entire ERP?

    Licensing differs in different versions of AX, nevertheless every version contains a reporting solution out of the box. Supposing that you're using the latest version, the features you can use are simply defined by an AX administrator by giving you appropriate permissions. Your permissions then define which CAL (Client Access License) you need. CAL represents a "level" of functionality across all modules - for example, if you have a Task User CAL, you can't access more advanced features that require Functional or Enterprise CALs. Therefore you don't buy modules in AX2012, you buy CALs. (This doesn't apply to third-party vendors, of course.)

    Therefore the most probable explanation is that you haven't been granted access to any report.

    Look into the Report catalog to see which reports are included in AX by default.

    The system administrator may have also configured the system to turn off modules that aren't being used. And if by reporting, you mean financial reporting, many customer use Dynamics Management Reporter for statutory reporting (income statement, balance sheet).
