Issues with RMS 2.0 w/ FP2 installation on Windows 8.1 Pro

I have installed the RMS with FP2 successfully on windoes 8.1 pro by following the sequency SQL2012, RMS base, FP1, SP4 and FP2. Now, I have been trying to install the RMS using the same sequence on the another machine which is my Register #1, and it gives me trouble by error, "Active X control..". This error was corrected somehow when I tried to install the RMS2.0 FP2 with "troubleshoot compatibility". However, now it gives me an error indicating "COM object error [related to QSS rule]..". Does anybody have this kind of issue or knowledge which I can use? Note that I am trying to install and configure the RMS FP2 on the machine independently from the another machine at the moment. In other words, this Register is also the server at the moment. Later, I am planning to use the server as a seperate machine. Any help would be appreciated.

    Update:

    The error is:

COM Object "MSRMSDOPS.verifyTableWithCredentials" fialed to creat oabject.

This seems like something to do with registration but not sure what it is. Please help me resolve this issue.

    Thanks,

Have you tried SQLSERVER 2005 Backward compatibility tool?

No I haven't. Could you please provide me steps on how to. I would appreciate your help.

    Paul,

I have installed the SQLSERVER 2005 Backward compatibility tool (64 bit) and it did not work. I also tried to install 32-bit but it does not allow me to install at all on 8.1 Pro. However, I haven't tried installing using the "Troubleshoot Compatibility" option. I also activated features of .NET 3.5, ASP, ASP.NET 3.5 and ASP.NET 4.5 from "Add Features". I thought this is something worth a try which may solve the problem but it did not.

Run-time error '339'. COM Object Error "MSRMSDOPS.verifyDatabaseTableWithCredentials" failed to creat object

If you could help me on this further, I will really appreciate your help. I really want to get this thing moving.

    Thanks,

    Pappu

    UPDATE:

    1. I had an issue with the Windows Update which was fixed Troubleshooting->System & Security ->Fix Problems with Windows Update. This was fixed.

Following programs were installed in a given sequence with right click "Run as an Admin.."

    2. Turn-off Windows OR third part firewall and Install SQL Server 2012 with SP1 then restart.

    3. Install SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility Tool then restart.

    4. Install MS RMS Base 2.0 then restart and create a database from backup DB file. Close everything.

    5. Install FP1 then restart.

    6. Install SP4 then restart.

    7. Install FP2 then restart. Connect the DB and then upgrade. then Test the connection.

    8. Finally, turn the Firewall ON. Note that the firewall may automatically turned On after each restart but you should manually turn OFF. I am not sure whether this creates an issue or not but I thought that firewall may restrict to access the certain program during the installation which was the case for SQL Server 2012.

Now everything works great. Still in testing phase.

Thanks to all who were willing to help and provide me a hint either in this or from other threads.

Thank You Pappu, with the exception of creating a db from Base 2.0 (you can't if you have sql 2012) this worked like a charm!

    Thank You,
