We are having a issues with word templates not rendering to screen or printer for ourselves but they render fine for our client.  Our client uses Citrix. Any of their users who run an invoice this way get the report to render to the screen and print no issues. Me their consultant cannot. I access their system 2 ways. 1. via a published application(same as all their users.) and 2. via a remote desktop connection on the actual server. Neither way will render the invoice to the screen for me. I have designed all their templates by sending them to email and looking at them that way and making edits. I really need to get this working as they have more and more work they need. I am trying to brainstorm what is different... I can work in word and design them....

 

I am not on their domain. Security difference somehow?? But what. Just not sure where to look. Any ideas?

    Mine is only for a group of users not everyone.  For everyone internal it works.  For folks external it does not.  So not sure this is the solution for me.

    I have found a solution to this issue.

    The problem was created by the Citrix Memory Optimization Shell Extension.  Apparently, when opening Word from GP, this extension intercepted the call and prevented it.

    I have temporarily disabled the shell extension using the ShellExView Tool from Nirsoft.  Everything worked as it should after this change and there has been no ill effects.

    I will of course reply to this thread if I see any ill effects come up.

    I have given up on finding an answer to printing to the screen.  Have just been printing to file, then opening the file.  Makes design time longer and is quite frustrating.  Still think it is in the networking/citrix profiling but....It is not a priority for their citrix team.

    I have already uninstalled and re-installed Word multiple times and I still have the same issue.

    I've never have this issue.  But what I understand when you print a Template, GP just pass all XML to Word and Word will handle all print jobs itself either display on screen or send it to the printer.  It's all up to Word.  You may already know that when you print to Printer, the template will print to the Word default printer not to GP default printer.  I suggest to uninstall and reinstall Word to see if it helps.

    I am having the exact same issue.  I am using Citrix Metafram, GP 2010 R2 and Word 2007.  I am having problems with the PO templates I created to render to the screen or printer.  They do get created in the temp folder.

    Any body having these issues?  Even RDP'd to their server, i cannot get word to open.
