Hi!
I work in a manufacturing company, we pack dry beans. Our product has 3 levels:
1 - Single Bags
2 - Case with 24 bags
3 - Pallets with 78 cases
My question - Our customers could buy any of the 3 levels, cause we do sell single bags or just a few cases. How should I set up the BOMs?
This is the list of materials:
1 - beans and film
2 - 1 + Box and tape
3 - 2 + Pallet, slip sheet, shrink wrap.
Do I need to create a different item for each level, considering each as a finished product or there is a way to have 1 item with 3 units of measure and 1 BOM for each unit of measure?
Thanks!

This will help you: docs.microsoft.com/.../production-how-to-use-the-manufacturing-batch-unit-of-measure
Your BOM can be setup to use the manufacturing UoM. It will expect to consume a pallets worth of bags - the qty. per field controls this. In terms of breaking it down for sale you do that as a warehouse activity (break bulk feature) or by reclassification of the item (reclassification journal)
Hi
My quick question is about how you sell these items? 1) do you have different catalog part number for each item (finished good) 2) do you have a different price for each of them? 3) do you want to track how many of each you sold? 4) do you provide discounts for each item to different customers?
If you see benefits on having 3 different finished good part numbers then setup BOM as you said (Multiple Level)
1) For bag One item with BOM 1
2) For case one item with BOM 2. In BOM 2 you can use BOM 1 as "production bom" and add box and tape.
3) For pallet one item with BOM 3. in BOM 3 you can use BOM2 and add Pallet, slip sheet, shrink wrap.
Thanks
