Does Professional Tools Library POP Cost Defaulter handle multicurrency?

(0) ShareShare

Good day all,

We are using the PSTL POP cost defaulter and have set it to use the item standard cost field vs. the Originating Invoice Cost from the vendor.  We use multicurrency and find that when the functional currency is UK Pounds and the Vendor is setup as USD, the standard cost is not being converted from pounds to usd.

Can anyone confirm whether this tool handles multicurrency environments?  My thoughts is that it does not.

Thanks for your replies as I just can't find anything specific to this and believe the answer is No.

I don't think it's the tool that is the issue.  I think rather it is GP functionality.  If you think about it, what you are doing is telling the system to use Standard Cost (in UK pounds) in the PO rather then Originating Invoice Cost (in the Vendors' currency).  If Standard Cost is expressed in UK pounds, that value will default onto the PO, regardless what your vendor's Currency is.  You would have to convert from pounds to USD after the cost value is inserted into the PO.

Frank, you are correct and thank you for you quick response.  When I enabled the POP Cost enabler I was no thinking about this specific issue I do find it takes the item standard cost in pounds and does convert to USD, the vendor currency. Unfortunately all the vendors in this company are setup with USD where the company functional currency is pounds so I am guessing we will have to perform the conversion each time.

Can you confirm that the POP Cost tool once turned on is not company specific and affects all companies. Correct?

I will mark your answer as correct.

    Thanks again

I believe it is company specific Michael.  I think it affects only the company you are logged into when activating it.  Any other GP gurus out there that can verify this?
