CRM - Outlook Integration

Posted on by 315

Hi guys,

Just a quick one...

Has anyone had a problem with CRM - Outlook Integration only working on one network?

I have had two users that have been set up in our Brisbane office with CRM Outlook Integration and have used it for a few weeks without any problems but when they took their laptops with them offsite they started having issues with CRM Outlook Integration. It is like their CRM Outlook Integration corrupted when they connected to a different network?

I'm not sure what the problem is - it's pretty strange?

Kind regards,

Justin :)

This works as a temporary solution. At the moment we can't run the CRM Outlook wizard on our work network (it's a really strange problem, so we are setting up mobile hotspots to install the wizard and get our new users setup with CRM Outlook integration.)

We have also been experiencing difficulty with our users that have CRM Outlook integration setup that have been using their local network while in the office and then using 3g when going offsite - this seems to cause the add-in to crash/corrupt... still waiting for I.T to get back to me for this one.

    RE: CRM - Outlook Integration

Our users are connected to the corporate domain and as far as I know I.T has tried to make everyone's setup as standardized as possible.

Our I.T team have given us the following steps for when users are going to be undocking their laptops and using wireless and when they want to re-dock

    To go wireless:

    1. Turn off Outlook

    2. Disconnect from the dock

    3. Click the wireless switch on the side of the box

    4. “Switch to Direct Connection” in the Proxy Server.

    5. Turn on Outlook.

    To reconnect to the dock:

    1. Turn off Outlook

    2. Connect to the dock

    3. Click the wireless switch on the side of the box to off

    4. “Switch to Selected Proxy Server” in the Proxy Server.

    5. Turn on Outlook.

I don't know if this process explains why their crm add-in might be getting confused in outlook. Also I have not heard back from my users to see if this process has worked.

I need to do a bit more research about domains etc etc.

    Thanks for the reply :)

Can you also check if the users when offsite are able to ping the published dns host entries. eg. crmlive.domain.com ?

    RE: CRM - Outlook Integration

    Hi Justin,

Firstly this has nothing to do with the Outlook Integration corruption or it being accessed across multiple networks in case you have claim based authentication setup.

What exactly is the issue you are coming across ?

Do these two users belong to a different domain or are they users from the parent domain but accessing CRM on a different network ? Please clarify and your CRM setup as well. (.. as it sounds like a multi domain setup with IFD)
