Portals - Display forum threads specific to based on type of users

Hi All,

We have requirement where we need to display conversations to specific to group of users who are with in area [Patch].

Now we need to provide ability to have conversations between customers specific to that area.

For conversations we are planning to use forums functionality of Portal, but we do not find any way to display particular threads based on the logged in user.

We should be able to create a thread for patch where only the customers in that patch could participate in conversations.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Another is much more complicated way is try to create custom Thread Page Template, which will check current user permissions and include original thread page template, or redirect to general page.

And even yet more complex way is to mimic full forum functionality with liquid, using its objects community.adxstudio.com/.../forums but to submit post you need to use existent controllers and methods. I guess last method give you the most extensibility options but quite hard in implementation.

Hi, OOB Portal doesn't support security settings on the level of Forum thread.

Instead you can easily setup it on the higher Level - "Forums". You can use access permissions docs.microsoft.com/.../forum-access-permission with "restrict Read type for not desired user roles.
