Inventory Closed after New Year Transactions

The users just closed inventory so, needless to say, the beginning of the year and amounts sold amounts are not correct as the 1st 2 weeks of the current year were closed with last year. Is there a way to correct those amounts?  Thanks!

RE: Inventory Closed after New Year Transactions

    Mahmoud,

I thought the close of inventory was the same regardless of the system date. When you hit the close button it simply emptied one bucket and started another. I do not think it is date sensitive. To my knowledge, the only way to 'correct' this is to use the transaction tables to update the item quantities table ( iv00102).

I tried changing the system date, but the close results were the same in my Fabrikam test. Did you do anything else to achieve other results?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Thank you for your response.

Unfortunately, restoring is not an option as this client has a perpetual interface that processed transactions for almost a day before they noticed the issue.

If you mean the "Quantity Sold" field gets to zero at the inventory closing, that's correct. Closing inventory will result with having this field and others to zero.

You should have considered changing the system date before closing inventory in order to exclude the "quantity sold" of the first two weeks of the new year.

If you have a recent backup, I would recommend restoring your Dynamics GP into the most recent backup just before the Inventory Closing, and changing the system date then re-closing your inventory.

Of course there are other suggestions which may consider updating the fields to exclude the quantities of the new year, but that absolutely need thorough calculation and analysis. Therefore, the restore would be the best option for me
