Is there anyone on this board that works for a company that repairs Medical Instruments or Machine tools?
Dynamics GP Field Service or Depot Management are solid choices for companies that repair equipment 1 piece at a time, like a photocopier, or coffee maker.
I would like to know how companies handle 30 different instruments/tools coming in on a work order. Each one to be cleaned, inspected and repaired or replaced.
If this describes your business, what software do you use?
Thanks
Tim

I am aware of Astea's solution offerings. As far as I can see, their product is similar to most.
Thanks for the offer though.
Tim
We haven't used this company personally but I have heard good things about Astea's Field Service.

I can do an introduction if your are interested.
That's right Tim..
The systems our company sells are complete installation composed of various computer & high technology components. Rarely a field tech will be called to replace an entire system.. it will mostly be just parts and components that are going to be serviced.
When we have to move or retire and entire site, we open an ad-hoc project in GP for the task and people will charge Time & Material against the project.
Our version of ITSM is pretty old and my understanding is that the version we own cannot be upgraded, either due to too many customization or because it's too old :-).. so they are looking for a new FS solution.
Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately, FieldOne will not be an option for us (we going Salesforce).
If I understand what your company does, you market a complete solution for Forensic Firearm/Ammunition Identification. This again is different, as it is a more device/system based kind of service.
I see FrontRange is now HEAT solutions. I think ITSM is also under a different name as well (if it exists).

Hi Tim,
Unfortunately we don't use Field Service to provide maintenance support to all our customers.. Our global customer support team found it more convenient to buy another piece of SW several years back.. it's call ITSM from FrontRange Solutions.. the drawback is that it was never integrated to GP, thus all the customer equipment has to be replicated manually from GP to ITSM.. :-(
I'm pushing since over a year to look at another FieldService solution, FieldOne that was bought up by Microsoft last year and is based on CRM. This would integrate fairly easily into GP..
Bump!
