So the user is on GP 2016 and Windows 10 (GP is loaded locally) on occasions when she launches this annoying little internal window opens up as well – you cannot end the task on it – you can just close GP then hope it doesn’t happen the next time they launch it – any ideas why this opens and how to stop it –

Ok - I was hoping for a window title in the title bar to quickly find out what it is, I'm running out of simple ideas on this.
Stepping up a notch, you can switch on logging in GP client (use search engine to find out how to do this), that will log the activity, but raking through the logs would not be easy and you may need some trained eyes to identify what it is that way.

Making the window bigger might tell us what it is - but might not let you do it.
If you delete the dimensions from the two boxes, it will not try and squish it so small...
I can see enough to know I probably will not know what it is!

However have you tried to maximise it, can you right click on the mini-version of the screen that pops up when you hover over the task bar at the bottom of windows 10, the bit that shows Dynamics GP and its sub windows. This should bring up a menu with size as an option (Restore Move Size Minimize Maximise Close)
Clicking on Size might let you resize it, a cross cursor will appear that will allow you to grab the edges of the tiny window and make it bigger.
