How to rename or make obsolete custom roles in D365FO

Hi All,
 
How we can make the custom roles obsolete or rename custom roles, we know that we can directly delete the roles, but it will cause the auditing issue. 
 
Please advice.

    Unfortunately, we don't have have rename option for custom roles. If its helpful, update the description.

    Thank you Sankar for the info.
     
    Do we have a option to disable the Custom role from front end?
    Our actual intension is that the custom role should not be used, and we do not want to delete it from front end.

    Hi Akbar,
     
    What exactly do you refer to as custom role? Is it a new role developed in Visual Studio, a configured role via front end, or both? 
    The new upcoming User Security Governance provides the option to rename configured security roles which is today possible with a workaround. 
     
    You can't change the name of roles developed via Visual Studio. 
     
    In case you want to disable roles created via Visual Studio, you can delete them as they will be then only marked as not active.

    We have updated the description as "DO NOT USE" for the roles which is no longer in use.
