Hi Community,

I'm confusing to create Items. Client has a business in which he want to differeciate items by its weight and Brand.
Eg. Client wants a report in which he want how much items we have of 50 Ton, 40 Tons & so on and how much items of Brand-A, B etc.. Also they want to select these two fields on each document of items.

I have created items weight list in items categories. Now I'm confuse in which field I should create Brand.

Your assistance will be appreciable.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi
I think you should rely on variants and use the units of measurements, both points you can use in the documents.

gdrenteria thanks for your reply but client is already using Unit of measure for its main purpose. Also we can't filter Variant on Items List.

out of box, BC allows user to create viriants, but you could only use one subcategory. e.g. item: shirt, variants: black, blue etc
you could choose shirt, blue but won't be able to create a second variants category for the item.

consider a customization to add additional category in your case might be a good option or look for a 3rd party addon that enables this.

I would keep it simple and use the item category for both. For example, you have Brand A with the weight 50 ton, 40 ton, etc. And then Brand B with the weight 50 ton, 40 ton, etc. The Item Categories has a parent/child relationship that helps with this setup.

The other option is to use Item Attributes. With Item Attributes you can have the brand and weight as separate attributes.

    I vote for Item Attributes.
PS: Dynamics 365 Business Central: Show Item Attributes on the page (For Example: On Item List page)

    Thanks.
