naming guidelines or naming conventions for D365 FO data

Dear All,

Kindly assist on a MS recommended guidelines for the naming conventions of D365 FO datas like legal entities, dimensions, chart of accounts.

    you should consult an expert to do right naming convenetions as it would help the customer in the long way

    Thank you very much... You are correct we figured out a naming convention on our own and agreed with the customer.

    Hi Piku,

    There is no best practice for naming conventions.

    For legal entities, I have seen many different implementations. Sometimes related to type of companies in an enterprise, sometimes regional, sometimes just a number. I have worked at an implementation where the customer had over 2500 legal entities. Then they just started with the first character matching the first character of the company name and the remaining characters were also letters from an in order of the alphabet. E.g. 'AAAA', then 'AAAB', etc.

    If you talk about chart of accounts, then this is driven from the company itself. Microsoft has no opinion on this.

    I don't think such a thing exist. It's all depend on your business users how they want to name it and how they want to set up accounts.
