Hello,
we are facing a strange issue on our D365 FO application. Basically when we create a new security role, even without duties or privileges, this role get randomly assigned to some users. On our tenant we have 4 legal entities running with roughly 500 users and we do not know which roles all the user should or should not have and this is really a dangerous behaviour concernign security. What could be the reason for such a behaviour?
We do not have organizational hierarchies or teams created for the legal entities.

Hi Andrea,
The only role which will be automatically assigned, by default, is the system user role. Like Nikolaj, I have not seen the behavior you are describing. At least not without a customization or the automatic role assignment rules.
How many users would be able or are responsible in your organization for maintaining users and the role assignments? Could there be someone by accident adding roles manually to the users? When you mention that you do not know which roles the users should have, I think you are not in control. Do you have an application to register all user requests which will be reviewed before users are added with particular access?
I have never seen randomly assigned security roles and especially not on newly created security roles.
Are there any rules setup for dynamic assignment on the security roles?
