Sales Backorders - How are you handling this?

Specifically with Business Central, how is your company handling sales order backorders? We would like to be notified when a purchased item arrives that a sales order is currently waiting for that item. We'd also like the same for a manufactured item - If a sales order is waiting for it and the production order is done, notify someone that item is now available for the sales order. I found a couple ISV's that will provide a screen to review (Kumavision and Apportunix), which are both very nice, but I was really hoping for more automation. I want to notify someone that sales order can now be fulfilled rather than someone manually going to check.

I'm just wondering how other companies are doing this. Thank you in advance for sharing!

    Hi

My recommendation is to review this blog post  https://www.olofsimren.com/processing-of-shipments/

If you are on option 1 setup then you need to look into some development or some 3rd party app. or report. We are on option 1 and for sometimes we had an Excel report (using ODATA https://archerpoint.com/how-to-use-business-central-odata-feeds-to-get-data-into-excel-for-reporting/ ) that runs a few time a day and send email to a few people to notify them about products that are ready to ship. Now we transferred it to Power Automate (created Custom API, then schedule flow to run and send result). But I saw some others do custom report then schedule in job queue for email.

For other Options in report you have Pick Sheet which is a better method.

    I hope this help

Hi, You can customize an automatic email notification function in BC, but I personally recommend using Power Automate, which can easily send messages to Outlook or Teams.

    Some simple examples,

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.
