Change of depreciation method of an asset

Hi,

If an asset has already been assigned to a book, and partially depreciated. We want to retire the current book, and allocate a new book (with different depreciation method) for the remaining value / life of the asset. What is the best option for that?

Thanks

Sam

    Hello Sam,

The following process should help you with the transfer:

    - Create a new book

    - Transfer the net book value of the old book to the new book via a manually posted fixed asset journal

    - Close the old book by changing the status to closed

An alterntive is described in the link that Sukrut provided.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
