Configurabel business documents print as PDF

(2) ShareShare

Hey everyone!

I'm currently working with configurable business documents/electronic reporting, but I've some trouble when I try to print my sales invoice as PDF after I modify it in Excel.

According to the microsoft documentation it seems like you just click the "convert to PDF" box in Electronic Destinations, and everything is OK.

Have anyone tried this and made it work?

    Hello makuv,

Can you let us know why you need the output destinations archive, file, screen and printer at the same time.

This looks very strange to me.

    Maybe that's your issue?!

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hello!

I did first try with one at a time, then all of them just to check. Poor choice of screenshot.

    Hi Makuv,

It looks like it could be a printer driver issue. If your end goal is to get a PDF, have you tried building a format configuration that exports to a PDF? Have a look at this document.

    Hi makuv,

I hope you already find the answer, but I faced the same issue when I was working with this and I have not seen the explanation here.

The reason for the issue is that only reports in Published status use the Electronic Report destination. If your excel template is in the status Draft, it will keep printing in excel even with the Convert to PDF is marked.

If you don't want to be publishing your template all the time, you can change the setup below to accept the Electronic Report destination in the status Draft.

Organization Administration>Electronic Reporting>Configurations select the Report you are using and in Configuration menu item>User Parameters

There seems to be no real solution to this in the replies? Using the configuration above, some documents print fine and others don't, and it varies entity to entity, environment to environment even when the same formats are used.

The Use destination for draft status sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. There's no errors there's no validation problems, the documents just simply don't print.

If we're using the default Microsoft formats from Excel it surely doesn't make sense to create formats from scratch just to start with the PDF conversion output.

And this is now a long time since the conversion feature has been switched on by default.

Where do we go from here?
