How to Run a Workflow to change status of (many) Opportunities from Active to Closed

We are working on updating our CRM system to have only recent Opportunities and Leads that date back a month or two ago. Is there a way to create a one time Workflow that would take a group of Opportunities all at once to change their status from (currently open) to Closed?

Not sure if there are any other ways to select many Opportunities and Leads at once and close them out. When i tried to select more than 1 opportunity from the Active View; it took away the option to close out the checked Opportunities!

Create a new workflow and check the checkbox " As an on-demand Process".

Add a step to update opportunity status with status won .

Activate the workflow .

Go back to Opportunity view and select all the opportunity you want to close and run the workflow that you just created. Workflow will change status of all the opportunity to won

thank you! is there a way in the Customizing area to add an option to the "Lost" category and the reason is just "Canceled?"

yes You can customize the Status reason field of an opportunity to have just cancelled as option under lost. Delete the other Staus from the list to remove it from the system. Before deleting make sure non of opportunity exists with the value that you are deleting.
