Unified Interface - Lookup to custom entity not available on Work Order form

Posted on by 60

Hello,

We have a lookup field to a custom entity on our Work Order form. Since upgrading to the Unified Interface, this field appears locked. You cannot click into the field to enter data. The only way to enter data into the field is via advanced find > bulk edit.

Field Security is disabled on the field.

The field is not locked on the form.

Any ideas?

    Hello,

Have you fixed the problem? I found the same problem when I receive an email in Dynamics 365 CE.

In my case the sender lookup is grey as your lookup.

If you have news, please, I would like to know them.

    Thanks.

Hi Lu, the field provided is a look up to the 'site' entity, which as mentioned in the post you shared, is one of the none supported UCI lookup fields. We will look to replace our sites with organisational units to resolve this issue.

    Hi Melissa,

Could you provide a screenshot of the properties of the custom entity for this lookup field? Like this:

It is currently known that there are certain entities that do not support UCI lookup fields.

    Hi Mellisa,

Based on the screenshot, it doesn't look like a locked field as locked field displays the lock on the field (just like opportunity field right on top of location). As of now I don't know what/why but will see if I can figure out something.

    Hi Ravi

Not sure how useful this is. As you can see, in the Unified Interface, when you hover over the field, it is greyed out and you cannot click into it:

Whereas when viewing in the web client, the look up is available:

The field in question is 'Location'

Hi Lu - thanks for this info - I have checked all your suggestions and issue not resolved.

Sorry a keep point I should have included in my original post - the field is accessible using the web client, it is only 'locked' when using the Unified Interface.

    Hi Melissa,

There are several ways to lock a field, so we need to check them one by one.

    1. Go to the form editor of the Work Order form, open the Field Properties for this lookup Field, and check that Field is read-only is checked. If so, deselect it.

    2. Check if the Work Order form is set with the business rules of Lock.

    3. Check if the Work Order form is set with the JavaScript of Lock.

    4. Check if your security role has Append’ and ‘Append To’ permissions of certain entities.
