Change front-end server

Hello,

During the installation of CRM 2013, in the window "Specify Server Roles", I checked everything (Front End Server, Back End Server, Deployment Administration Server).

Now I would like to change the Front End Server, in order to have a separate web server: thanks a lot in advance for any suggestion on how to accomplish this.

Best regards,

Agostino

    Hi Agostino,

I think you can refer to this link:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh699749.aspx

Configure. To add or remove one or more Microsoft Dynamics CRM server roles, right-click Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server 2013, click Uninstall/Change, select Configure, and then click Next. Follow the instructions that are on the screen to select or clear one or more server roles. More information: Microsoft Dynamics CRM server roles

Go to Control Panel, Program and Features then choose Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 Server

    Choose Configure..

Next to get the Specific Roles

And Next it will redirect to email router setting and system will do validation checking as usual.

Remember to backup all of the things, including VM backup if you are using VM.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks.

    Hi Aileen,

Thank you for your answer. If I understood well, the "Configure" option can also allow to remove a role: for example if I uncheck the "Front End Server" role, this role will be uninstalled. And since I want to change the front end server, I will have to install this role in another machine.

What I don't understand is how to make the link between the CRM main installation and the server where the Front End Server role is installed.

    Thank you again,

    Agostino

    Hi Agostino,

Yes.. Correct, you can check or uncheck the server roles.

CRM Mail installation is referring to which server role? Full Server Role? or Back End + Deployment Administrator Role?

Okay, to make link, when you install the CRM, you can specify the development and you can choose Connect To.

    msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh699780.aspx

Once you done, you can see in the CRM Deployment Manager..

The complete server list and the each role they handle

And you can also check the Web App Server, Organization Web Service, Discovery Web Service, Deployment Web Service which defined and should be installed when you install Front End Server.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks.

    Hi Aileen,

When I talk about "main installation" I mean Back End + Deployment Administrator Role.

So I will try doing this: install the Front End Server Role in one machine (where nothing is installed yet), and the other two roles in the second machine (I guess I will have to uninstall CRM from this machine before), and from this setup I will connect to the existing deployment in the first machine.

    Thank you,

    Agostino

    Hi Agostino,

    Based on the MSDN Link..

It is recommended to have Front End Server Roles + Deployment Admin Server in one server and Back End Server in the next server.

Not Front End and Back End + Deployment Admin Server.

It might be because the Back End is supposed to be one dedicated server role.

Yes, you should connect to existing deployment, don't create new. So that, this is how CRM link both server roles, this is the answer of your question before.

    Thank you.

    Hello Aileen,

I need your urgent help for below issue.

    Hello Experts,

I need your help to solve the below mentioned situation.

In our current project we have front end server and backend server for CRM 2013.

1] My front end server is (Web application server) here we have CRM with web application server, organisation web service and discovery service.

2] Back end server has asynchronous service, email integration service and deployment administrator server.

Situation : Today by mistake I uninstalled dynamic CRM 2013 setup from backend server. due to which my components of Backend server ( refer point 2) got deleted.

We reinstalled the CRM 2013 server again and we reviewed that my asynchronous services are up and running. However the asynchronous workflows are not working after this installation.

Requesting you to kindly suggest me the path forward to get this asynchronous workflows working.

    Thanks in advance

    Best Regards

    Swap
