Dear reader,
we have a CRM 2016 on premise installation, long time ago choosen because of the interfacing ease.
One of the interface streams runs every 5 minutes by Windows Task Scheduler on the server, looks if there's anything to process, logs about this and processes if necessary. I really don't like this 5 minute interval and would like a system that actually reacts on events in CRM.
A scenario could be a workflow plugin that fires the executable (formerly started by scheduler) as soon as a record meets the desired state.
Anyone have any ideas on this? Maybe experience? Pings to already existing plugin activities? Risks?
Thanks for thinking along.
Best regards,
Jeroen

I have the same question (0)Hi Jeroen,
Majorly for tasks like these window schedular is a good approach and i have personally used it.
However if you have trigger in CRM already - I would suggest you register a plugin on that event and do everything there rather then calling the exe if feasible?
otherwise , simply call the exe from plugin.
