This fixed unit assignment can be used to let a developer use unit settings for particular units. E.g. how many decimal places are to be used for kilograms? In AX 2012, there was a form where you could set up a few fixed units or shared system units. This has evolved into this solution on the unit of measure itself.

    Hi,
Additionally, in this following document it is mentioned that if you select the If Fixed Unit Assignment checkbox is selected, you can identify the unit of measure as one of the fixed units of measure listed in the Fixed Units field. You can view this document. Set up units and unit conversions (Retail essentials) | Microsoft Learn  And the system seems to only use fixed units if fixed unit allocation is selected.
    Best Regards,
    Hana

    Hi,
The Fixed Unit Allocation feature allows you to specify a fixed unit of measure for an item, regardless of the conversion of the unit of measure for sales or purchases. This means that no matter how the item was purchased or sold, it will always be tracked and managed in the specified unit of measurement.
    Best regards,
    Kevin
