Using APIs through a VPN with On-Prem

Looking to implement API calls with on-prem but the server is behind a vpn.
I can currently make the calls correctly with the vpn on but this won't always be an option so I am looking for a way to expose the endpoints outside of the vpn.
Any help is appreciated, thanks in advanced.

    This is something you infrastructure team should take care of it, you need to enable the server to access outside by using forward ports and make sure you enable only specific ports and SSL.
