Business Portal Prerequisite checker

Hi

I am trying to do a fresh install of BP4 with GP10 SP3 , for some reason when i run the Business Portal Prerequisite checker on my server, it keeps falling over, complaing its not installed however i have installed .Net 3 and .Net 3.5, after several attempts with different versions i am still struggling with it.

In the past when i have gone past that stage , it tries to install it and then half way through just pops up with a message saying that BP install ended prematurely without giving me anything helpful to go with ? Any ideas or suggestions as to what i might be doing wrong ?

 Many Thanks

Zille Hassan

Here is MS answer , just looked at it now.

    SYMPTOMS

When you run the Business Portal Prerequisite Checker in Business Portal for Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 or in Business Portal for Microsoft Dynamics SL 7.0, incorrect error messages and warnings may appear in the View Results window. The following table summarizes four such error messages.
    Item Status Message
.Net Framework 3.0 Failed Failed .Net Framework 3.0 is not installed.
SSL Enabled Failed SSL must be enabled on this site.
ASP.NET Version Failed Your ASP.NET Version: 1.1.4322. Requirement: Version 2.0
Office Server Failed Office Server is not installed

    RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, see the following guidelines with regard to the error messages and warnings.
You must have the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 and the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 installed to install Business Portal. If both versions of the .NET Framework are already installed on the computer that is to run Business Portal, you can safely ignore error the first and third error messages that are mentioned in the "Symptoms" section. To verify that both versions of the .NET Framework are installed, click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
You do not have to have SSL enabled to install Business Portal. You can safely ignore the second error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section.
Office Server (Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007) does not have to be installed as long as Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 is installed on the Web server. You can safely ignore the fourth error message that is mentioned in the “Symptoms” section if the Prerequisite Checker indicates that Windows SharePoint Services has a status of Passed.

    STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

Even if i ignore the messages and try and install the BP, the installation ends prematurely pops up and it closes, is there anything i can do to debug this ?

I believe there is a text file that gets created by the BP installer under Business Portal in Program Files. This text file contains logs of all the details of the install. You should also check the Event Viewer application log to see if any BP install error messages show up there. Review these and post any errors you find.

If you are installing BP on a server that is not running GP make sure you have the Dexterity Components installed on the web server.

Also, make sure to create a top level site for BP in SharePoint before running the BP installer.
