Fixed assets depreciation ignores depreciation periods remaining

Hi,

I have adjusted a fixed asset and after that I run the depreciation for the entire year. For some reason, it calculates depreciation based on the depreciation periods rather than on the depreciation periods remaining. Any ideas of why?

I have the same question (0)

Can't tell for sure without confirming all your Depreciation configs but the asset shows an Acquisition date of 1/31/2020 and placed in service of 1/1/2018.  My guess is that date combination is causing your issue.  Logically, you don't place an asset in service before its acquisition date.  I would try changing the acquisition date to = placed in service date.

    Hi Frank,

Thanks for your contribution. Unfortunately I tried that and did not work :( the system still calculates depreciation based on total periods not on periods remaining

I have run another test and still can't figure out how depreciation is being calculated:

There is a bit of an incongruency between the placed in service date and the depreciation run date but I don't think this should affect. If we have depreciation last run on the 31/12/2020 and 24 depreciation periods remaining I think the system should take the net book value of the asset at 31/12/2020 and divide it by the depreciation periods remaning.

The net book value is this:

And the depreciation proposal that I get is this:

Any ideas of what could be wrong??

    Thank you!

What depreciation method you are using ? Straight line remaining? or straight line? if straight line then system will use service life not remaining one
