Personalization not working in Outbound Marketing Email

Hello,
 
We have a simple personalization set up in Marketing Email Templates for {{contact.firstname}}.  It had been working until this week, and all of a sudden it stopped pulling in the values.  I've tested other fields (last name & email) and they also do not work.
 
I tested a Real-Time Marketing email and the personalization works as it should.  However, my marketing team is not trained or properly set up to use Real-Time yet so Outbound Marketing has to work.
 
We have 2 separate production instances and the 2nd instance is not having this issue.  Any thoughts on what could be blocking the personalization from being pulled into the Marketing Email?

    Marketing Email Templates?
    Try creating another new marketing email without any templates and test it by adding dynamic context to the new created email.
    You mentioned that this came out of nowhere? Has the problematic instance been updated?
    Check to compare versions:

    The move to RT Marketing is not easy. But after you get over the training hump, things do get better. That's where most of the new development is going. It's a process but can be done.
