Connect to D365 F&O on-premise with Azure MFA

Hello,

[Set up environment ]
- Dynamice365 Finance and Operation on-premise

- Active Directory on-premise

- Active Directory Federation Service

- Azure Active Directory

- Enabled MFA for users in Azure AD

- Followed the guide to set up and deploy

[Questions]
1.Does Azure MFA work with D365 for Finance and Operation (On-premise)?

- I heard that it is supported. But, after I’ve finished to set up the environment above, it still doesn’t work.

- When users attempt to login, the authentication seems like still connect to on-premise AD

2. In order to use Azure MFA for D365 on-premise, what should I do more? Do I have to configure more in LCS or ADFS?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

    3. In order to use Azure MFA as primary authentication, do I have to create Claims Provider Trust on ADFS? According to the article(blog.thenetw.org/.../),  creating Claim Provider is required. But, since the article is writtend in 2018 I'm not sure it is still needed.

    Hi Kateioi,

From a D365 F&O (including LCS) standpoint there isn't anything that needs to be configured for MFA.  This is strictly an ADFS\MFA setup issue.

I found a couple of articles that might help:

    - docs.microsoft.com/.../configure-ad-fs-and-azure-mfa

    - docs.microsoft.com/.../dn280946(v=ws.11)

    - docs.microsoft.com/.../concept-mfa-howitworks

    Hi Dean,

    Thank you for your comments.

    It’s getting clear.

Is Azure AD the only way to authenticate D365F & O (including LCS)?

Where does administrator add users when new users are created?  In Azure AD? or On-Premise AD?

Hi I am also struggling with this for our on-premise implementation. Have you managed to get any more answers?

    Thanks!
