System default date format

Can we set the default date format at a system wide or organisation level in D365 Finance and Operations?

I understand that it can be set at a user level but as our entire user community is in Australia/New Zealand it is easier for everyone if we can set it as the default for the system as can be done in CRM.

Thanks,

PJ.

    Hello PJ62,

I am not aware of such a general setting. If you open your user then there is a user information entity that contains a lot of data for all of your users that you could potentially use for uploading the default date format. The problem is that this entity does not seem to include that field requiring that you modify the entity. Might be a feasible workaround?!

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi PJ,

I think this function is not available out of box for D365FO but you can customize a simple class to do the job. The data will be located in the UserInfo table with preferred locale so you can make a query to retrieve all the use in your organization and then set the preferred locale on the result by using X++.

    Hope it helps.

Seems no global date format setting in F&O.  While the date format setting is under user options.

    Hi PJ62,

You can use “User information” entity for this purpose, so you update required users with a default ‘Date, time and number format’.

    Regards,

    Alireza

    Hi PJ,

By default, the date and number format follows the language of the user (user options), unless it is overridden with the setting 'Date, time and number format'. If all users will have the language 'en-au' or 'en-nz', you don't have to use the second setting.

Alireza suggested a way to use the entity 'User information'. You can use 'Open in Excel' or data management for bulk update.

For having the language defaulted to 'en-au' for new users, you can go to my blog where I explained how this is working and how to extend it for other fields: How to select a default language for new users in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations - Dynamicspedia

In summary, this can not be done.  Only options is, as suggested by respondents, use the User Information entity to bulk update.  Would be a useful feature for non US customers so that they don't need to change date format for every user created.
