Whether SRS connector is compulsory to install CRM D365 onpremise v9

Hi All,

I installed CRM D365 V9 onpremise in CRM Server, while installing SSDT was missing in DB server(Report Server).

It got errors but I repaired and configured but Orgnization is not created in Deployment manager, while trying to create Orgnization,

Report authoring extensions should be installed so I installed SSDT and bids extension on DB server. But still I am getting errors , not able to create organization, so my question is whether SRS connector is compulsory to install on DB server?

Actually my CRM server is on windows server 2016, and DB server is on Windows server 2012 r2. So srs connector component is not supporting on DB server where ssrs also installed, bcz it's on windows server 2012 r2.

Your support is highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Parashuram Jadhav

    Hi Parashuram,

Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement Report Authoring Extension is required to author Fetch-based reports used with Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement by using SQL Server Data Tools. You must install the Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement Report Authoring Extension (Additionally SSDT ) on a PC to install D365.

    Hi Parashuram,

Yes, the SSRS connector is a requirement for a complete D365 deployment.  If you are not able at this time to upgrade your SQL Server to Windows 2016, you could install just SSRS on your CRM server but still have it connected to your same SQL server and have it's databases there, that way you could get the Extensions setup.

The connector is required not just to execute FetchXML reports but also with how CRM executes SQL based reports and the installation of the connector is what does the publish of the out of the box reports to SSRS.

    Thanks,

    Jarrod

    Hi All,

I finally had to upgrade Windows Server OS to 2016, then SRS Connector installed as SRS connector and Reporting Extensions with SSRS,SSDT(VS 2015) are mandatory to create organization in MSCRM version 9.

I think it is still possible to avoid installing the SSRS connector, but you do still need to have a Reporting Server. To be able to create or import organisations without the SSRS connector, you need to set the IgnoreChecks registry value
