In the [Assign users to Role],

If i remove user role by "Exclude from role", the user seems to remove to specified roles. But its assignment mode is still "Manual"

May i know
1) what difference from 'Exclude from role' and 'Remove'
2) what is the purpose of assignment mode

Hi there! Good morning, evening, or afternoon - depending on where you are :) Hope you are well today!

Here’s a breakdown of the differences and the purpose of assignment mode in the context of assigning users to roles:

    1. Difference Between 'Exclude from Role' and 'Remove'
    • Exclude from Role:
      • This action removes the user from the specified role but keeps a record of the exclusion.
      • The assignment mode remains "Manual," meaning the user was manually assigned or excluded from the role by an administrator.
      • If there are automated processes or rules for assigning roles, the user will be skipped for this role in the future due to the exclusion.
    • Remove:
      • This action completely removes the user from the role assignment system for the specified role.
      • The user will no longer appear in the role assignment list, and there will be no record of exclusion.
      • If automated processes or rules are in place, the user could potentially be reassigned to the role unless explicitly excluded.
    2. Purpose of Assignment Mode
    • The assignment mode indicates how the user was assigned to the role:
      • Manual: The user was assigned or excluded from the role manually by an administrator.
      • Automatic: The user was assigned to the role through automated processes, such as rules or workflows.
    • This distinction helps administrators understand whether a role assignment was intentional (manual) or system-driven (automatic). It also ensures clarity when troubleshooting or auditing role assignments.

    Hope this helps some!

Exclude from Role temporarily removes a user from a role but keeps the assignment in the background, with the assignment mode still set to Manual Remove completely removes the user from the role and the assignment, and if re-assigned, the role assignment process starts fresh.

    Thanks, Ramesh
