We have 83 computers to add to the fixed asset system. I've heard of people using an import function to upload Assets to the FAS. Has anyone done this? any insight or thoughts on this? I would need specifics because i have never imported to the fixed asset system before.

ok, i've resolve that issue. I'm not looking at why on the asset book template - i have the place in service date different than the acquisition date but it defaults to the acquisition date...any ideas
ok Frank, I was finally able to create the file- when trying to import i recieved an error message "an unexpected modal dialog appeared (line #23) do we have any instructions on how to fix errors

Open the Asset Import/Export window under Utilities>>Fixed Assets. Click the Help button. On the Overview Page, select 'Guidelines for importing asset information'. Scroll down and select 'Field Mappings for Importing asset information'. That will provide you with Field Mapping from which you can format your template.
I did this I was more looking for a template / format of some sort to have a good starting point. the instructions doesn't indicate how to format in excel. any ideas from that stand point
Have a look at the Asset Import/Export under Fixed Asset Utilities. Open the window, click on the Help button in the lower right corner of the window and read all about it. If after reading help materials you have some specific questions, let us know.
