Formula versions - validity dates

Posted on by 79
Hello,

If an item has multiple formula versions, none of which have the Validity section filled in, but only one of these formula versions is active and approved, does this negate the need to fill in the Validity section? Specifically, can the /From date/ field be omitted?

Tiny, tiny warning, especially for Process industry. If you EVER want to create an order for less than 1.0 (I know it's unlikely), the order will have an empty Formula/BOM if the Activated from quantity is 1.0. I advise 0.0, which perhaps should be the default?

Correct, if only one formula version is active & approved, you can disregard the from / to date.

If you would like to have multiple active & approved formula versions, you can do so as long as they are unique combinations of:

-From / To date (non overlapping)
    -From formula size
    -Site

This is useful if you have two different formulas based on batch size.  IE From formula size 1 is run on a smaller mixer, and from formula size 10,000 is run on a larger mixer that has a slightly different set of ingredients required.

    Hi,
If only one formula version is active and approved, and the others are not used, there may be less urgency in filling out the Validity. But when doing a version switch, it may be necessary to explicitly specify the effective date and time to ensure that the transition is orderly. The validity usually includes information about when a particular formula version takes effect (/From date/) and when it expires (/To date/). This ensures a clear record of when active formula versions were introduced. Multiple valid formula versions can only exist if the date range and "from" quantity do not overlap. This is the value of its existence.
    Best Regards,
    Hana
