Is there a way to disable the autosave functionality on forms when the form is closed or row is changed?

Open the menu File >> Tools >> Options
Select the "Confirmation" tab
Here you can set the "Confirm update" option on different form types.
This will cause a confirmation dialog to appear when the user attempts to leave the record or close the form. Note that NEW records are still implicitly saved when the record is left or the form is closed. There is not a setting to control this for new records.
