Here is a link to a detailed document on how to attach documents, spreadsheets, pdf files, etc. to GP with a feature that's existed since the windows version was introduced. The new features implemented with GP 2013 allow these attached documents to participate in workflow and be emailed easily by users.

You sure can - the feature you're referring to is Object Linking and Embedding, and it's been around since the windows version of GP released. Simply open your GL Transaction Entry Screen, tab through the JE Number field to get the next number, and then choose the icon that looks like a blank slip of paper to the right of the JE Number, that is the note for that entry.
