Duplicate Detection

Posted on by 30

Hello Everyone,

We have recently transitioned from on-prem to the cloud. We had one user receive the below duplicate message in our production environment. I was able to reproduce it in our dev environment (we do not have any duplicate detection rules turned on in the dev environment) and realized it was picking up a similar name (e.g John and Johnathan) that was it. Once I selected 'Continue' without selecting a matching record, I deleted everything I created and re-attempted to create the issue again. I couldn't, it would just create the Opportunity, New Account, and New Contact. I am looking to further understand why it doesn't continue to happen and why is it picking up on such a minor name coincidence. Any help would be appreciated.

    RE: Duplicate Detection

    Hi pobrien,

If the all the duplicate detection rules are unpublished, then this dialog box does not appear.

Only if the duplicate detection rules of Account or Contact are published, you can see that there are duplicates in existing records.
