Encrypt EFT Banking information

Posted on by 572

Has anyone found a way to encrypt banking information on the Vendor card?  I would like to see it masked with the last four digits.  Has anyone found any third party products to achieve this?

Thanks

Debra

Debra, thats how we handled it - we changed the window to move the EFT button off so users couldn't get in to it, unless they were an approved "Alternate" window user.

We are thinking of using field level security just to restrict who can see that field on the Vendor card.  I know we can encrypt the information at the database level but we are more looking to not see banking info on the Vendor cards.

I wonder what would happen if we modified the window and let management see the original window and the other restricted users see a mask?  That way it is only the user interface that is changed and not the data being used for the bank.

    Hi Debra,

Are you trying to hide (mask) the information on the Vendor Card in GP ? or do you try to encrypt the EFT file that goes to the financial institution ?

In the first case, if you own the GP Modifier add-on you could try to change the field display type (never tried that, but there might be a pwd-type display that shows only ****), or you could try to use VBA on that form... which will require some coding.

In the second case, I doubt that this would work, as the Bank would have to know the encryption key you're using. You may want to setup some PGP process to exchange the files with the bank.
