Shopify Connector Customer Synchronisation

Hi all
 
I have a customer who has around 710 000 customers on Shopify and we are implementing Business Central for them. When running the Sync Customers button it runs for hours and fails after 6 hours. Can anyone please assist me with a solution to get the customers synced into the system?

    Hi CJ,

    Syncing 710,000 customers from Shopify into Business Central is a significant load and can easily exceed the default performance limits of the connector.

    Here are a few suggestions to improve the process:

    1. Batch the Sync:

      • Instead of syncing all customers at once, try breaking the sync into smaller batches using custom filters or by segmenting the data in Shopify (e.g., by creation date or customer group).

    2. Use API Pagination:

      • Ensure the connector or custom integration uses Shopify’s pagination to retrieve data in manageable chunks.

    3. Optimize Connector Performance:

      • Review the connector’s timeout and retry settings.
      • Consider increasing the timeout limit if possible, or running the sync during off-peak hours.

    4. Custom Integration:

      • For large datasets, a custom integration using Power Automate or Azure Functions might be more scalable. You can push customer data into Business Central via APIs in controlled batches.

    5. Data Cleanup:

      • If possible, clean up inactive or duplicate customers in Shopify before syncing to reduce the volume.
