Hi
I had an item that was Sales inventory that was discontinued. so we turned it to discontinued
now we need to change it back to Sales inventory but it doesn't save
i open the item card. change it to sales inventory
click save
go back and view it again. it changes back to discontinued
any idea why this is happening ?

i tried it on the Dynamics GP 2013 Sp2 and its also working and i could change it back so sales inventory , i don't know if you have a customization preventing this as Richard said!
but i suggest you try the following:
start by taking backup
1- update the item type field on the IV00101 table
2- run a reconciliation and check links
- As a reference for your update statement, the field to be updated is (ITEMTYPE) with : ( 1 ) Sales Inventory as you will find it (2) Discontinued
to check the update create a transaction for this item (adjustment, transfer or sales), and check that its working properly.

Do you have a customization controlling this? I just did it on a GP 2018 installation with no issue. I could have sworn you could not switch it back but apparently you can.

i tried that in another instance of GP 2016 and its working fine. is that something that was not available before 2016 ?

There is no way to change the type from Discontinued to anything else in GP. Once it is marked as discontinued it remains that way. Do you need to still sell these items? There is an SOP option to allow that.
