Dynamics GP 2016 0 - Customization Maintenance Duplicate Name appears in the list

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi All,

Need some of your expert advise in regards to customization issue. The issue is I have created a simple package in GP2015 with one customization in the package (SOP Other History Invoice Form) this form has VBA in it. If I import this package in GP2016, it will appear as twice as Modified Report and Modified Report with VBA in the customization Maintenance window. If i try to export them out it will appear as VBA Component 'SOP Other History Invoice Form not Found.

Can you please advise where I'm doing it wrong.

I should have mentioned: I ran the GP Utils Update Forms and Reports and that went through fine. I didn't try Leslie's approach of importing via Report Writer as I have many more Forms then Reports.

Same problem here in GP2018 R2. I have a number of Package files (one per Form or Report) which I have imported to a fresh install (no DIC files in the Data folder) which I imported via the Customization Maintenance window. Oddly, I have duplicates for all types of artifacts which relate to VBA (Reference, User Form, Modified Form / Form with VBA as per original poster, etc), but only for the Project Accounting product. Our VBA stuff in other products appear fine. When I try to export the duplicates both are identical except in the case of some which are as described in the original post (duplicate with Modified Form / Form with VBA). In those cases the second instance returns the not found error.

We have modifications for the Human Resources product (these are fine), Microsoft Dynamics GP product (also fine), Project Accounting (many duplicates), SmartList (fine) and for a third party vendor which contain no VBA (which are fine).

I have yet to test whether there is actually any impact to functionality, but it is a rather annoying bug nevertheless. Any suggestions?

Have you tried renaming your current Reports.dic file and importing that one customization into GP thereby creating a brand new Reports.dic. The other thing I would try if this doesn't work is to rename the Reports.dic file and then launch Report Writer (a new Reports.dic file will be created).   In the Report Writer window, select the Import button on the right-hand side of the window. Select the source dictionary as the GP2015 Reports.dic. You will see the modified reports that are contained in the GP2015 Reports.dic. Highlight the modified report you want to import and click the Import button at the bottom. Take a look at the dictionary and see if that one report has been imported. You will have to copy over the VBA file, or just leave the one that was created from the package file import.

What happened when you ran the Update Forms and Reports dictionaries in Dynamics Utilities?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

Did you solve your issue? The same thing is happening to us in GP2018.
