Limit Sales Comment Entry window to 200 Characters

In Dynamics GP 2010, the Sales Comment Entry will allow up to 500 characters to be entered but it will only print 200 characters and limits 50 characters to each line, with a maximum of 4 lines. I have a client who wants to have a character counter for each line and/or have a prompt pop up for each line so the users will know when they have reached their max length.  Is this possible without requiring VB?

is the printing limit you describe based on a report format request of your client?  If not why not just modify the report to display all the characters entered?

The printing limitation is actually a Dynamics GP restriction per Partnersource: mbs2.microsoft.com/.../kbdisplay.aspx

The client just wants the comment field to be user friendly so the user knows when they have reached the 200 character limit so all the text typed into the field will appear on the Pick Ticket. (i.e. Picking instructions minus the Advanced Distribution module - they don't own it.) I am testing the option of changing the data type for the Comment Text field to 200 char limit instead of 500 and resizing the window and changing the ability to resize it.

    Hi Lisa

Wow in 20 years of using GP I had not heard or read about a limit on the SOP note.

I realize you are going the window change route rather that report change but I wonder if a different table has the complete note.

This talks about how to add the SOP notes to the RM statement

I have an additional question to Lisa's original question. Is there a document that shows how many characters will print on an invoice? I have a department asking how many characters will fit in the description, as well as other fields. Not only fit, but print.

Anyone have any suggestions? I am not IT minded and I don't have an IT staff, and I am not sure where to ask.

    Thanks,

    Lindsey
