Point of Inactive Segments?

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has an idea about why one would want to keep an inactive segment? Once it goes inactive, the member list is no longer available. Other than name and a few other small details, there isn't a lot of information available. To me there doesn't seem to be a point in keeping them, but maybe I'm missing something. My hope was that going inactive would freeze the member list so I could reference back to it later, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to why one would keep an inactive segment as opposed to just deleting it?

    Hi SEDE,

inactive segment might make sense to keep for reference - eg query used or other details. It will keep all the data except for members list.

Freezing the last members list could potentially be a useful feature and you can submit it to idea hub if you like (experience.dynamics.com/.../) .

If you want to keep the list of members, you can just stop the segment and not deactivate it. The potential issue in this case would be that the stopped segments are counted towards the "total segment" limit which is 10 000 overall (including all static and dynamic segments in draft, live and stopped states).
