Does anyone know if rounding rules can be modified in GP Payroll? (I'm on version 2013.)
My employer holds a "Certificate Authorizing Special Minimum Wage Rates Under Section 14(c) of the Fair Labor Standards Act" issued by The Dept. of Labor (DOL). One of the rules to follow in order to be in compliance is DOL's requirement that when calculating prevailing wage rates, commensurate wage rates, and piece rates, we must (and do) round up as follows: wage rate of $7.66305 is rounded up to $7.67. There's plenty of DOL documentation to support non-standard rounding of these wage rates.
The ISSUE is that we've just been told by a DOL auditor that this rule also applies in the final earnings calculation, for example: 23.75 hours X $5.63 per hour = $133.71250, or $133.72....not $133.71...non-standard rounding.
I have searched and searched for written documentation (by DOL or otherwise) to support or even hint that this non-standard rounding rule is required in calculating the final gross earnings, or ever applied, and I haven't given up yet!
GP, like the rest of us, uses standard rounding rules in calculating the final gross earnings, and I've also searched extensively for an answer to if /how it might be possible to make this type of modification in GP, in the event that DOL gets their way!
Any insights into this (or either) subject is GREATLY appreciated!!!
Thank you,
Joanie R.
