Custom Activity not showing on Activity tab of associated Contact.

I have a Custom Activity and wanting to associate it to the Contact record.  AND in the background, also associate it to the Account of the Contact record.  Since the Users wanted to only associate the activity to a Contact, rather than using the OOB RegardingObjectid or Partylist fields where they can be associated to any entity, I created a Contact field lookup field.  However, when creating the activity record, it apparently does not use the created contact lookup field to associate itself to the Contact record and thus it does not display on the Social Pane's Activity Tab of the contact record.  I can however, use a workflow to add the associated Account to an existing partylist field where the activity will display on the account record.

Is the only way to link to the contact record is using the RegardingObject or Partylist, and then lockdown the lookup by adding a web-resource to load?  Or do I also use a workflow to add the select contact record to the existing regardingObjectid or partylist field?

I can't seem to find any documentation on WHAT causes an entity lookup field to associate itself to display on the Activity Tab on the Social Pane.

Thanks for any help!

Steven

    Thanks Ketan.  This will work.  I was trying to avoid onload events, but I guess it's not a big deal.  Probably better than a lot of workflows.

    Hi,

    Instead of creating another lookup you can restrict existing regarding field to only show contacts.

    On load of form use below api.

    formContext.getControl(arg).setEntityTypes([entityLogicalNames]);

    docs.microsoft.com/.../setentitytypes

    Make sure to handle this on quick create as well if enabled.

    Also based on relation same activity will be available on account of contact automatically.

    Regards,

    Ketan
