Can someone please help me. I recently upgraded an older version of GP 10.00 to service Pack 4. However after upgrading I cannot log on. The following message is what I get " A product installed on your computer is on a different version than the database version. You will not be able to use the application until this issue is resolved. Use the GP_loginErrors log file in your temp directory to assist in resolving this issue"

When I try run the GP Utilities I get the following message "the following companies exist, they either need to be upgraded or continued from a prior operation". I see the companies but I am not able to select either of the companies and it appears of if the companies are locked.

I need help. Is there anyone out there tha may be able to please help me urgently? Thanks in advance.

Re: Problems Upgrading to Service Pack 4

Hi, there are a few things you can look at...for a start, product versions are stored in the DU000020 table. Have you any third party products or custom developments installed? It could be the case that a dictionary is based on an older bulid of dexterity than the one you are currently using after the service pack was applied.

Did you run the service pack on the server? Are you getting the error logging into a workstation. Check your dynamics.set file and make sure that it is pointing to dictionaries that were changed by the service pack. Easiest thing to do is 1. back up the synamics.set file on the workstation, then copy down the one in use on the server to the workstation. Use this to launch GP and see what happens. You might get some 'dictionary not found' issues but thats OK...these can be dealt with once we establish that you can launch GP.

Did you install the updates on the clients? If not, then the Dynamics.dic files on the workstations are at a different version than the one you just applied the service pack to. Did you complete all of the steps detailed in the supporting documentation for SP4? The easiest way to rule out a different version is to copy the contents of the server install of GP down to a workstation. i.e. copy the contents of the GP folder on the server and paste them into the GP folder on the workstation. Then launch GP. Back up the contents of the workstation GP folder first in case you need to restore it.

What version of MSSQL are you on? What is the compatibility level of your databases in MSSQL? To find out, open SQL Enterprise Manager, expand your databases, select a company, right click on it and select properties, then select Options. The compatibility level is displayed in the Compatibility List field. This needs to be '90' for MSSQL 2005.

I'll keep thinking and if anything else comes to mind, I'll post again.

Hi Ian - Thanks for responding.

I ran the service pack on the server and on the workstation. I am getting the same message from both locations. The funny thing is I am able to log into the sample company but the real company (that is my company setup) I am not able to log in. I am using MSSQL 2005. The compatibility level is 90.

    Regards

Are the pad lock icons beside every company in Utilities?..and not beside the TWO company database?
