Error while installing customize app source extension with same id

We have an app extension that we have downloaded from app source and we have made some changes to that app keeping same app id and different app version and we are trying to install on same tenant , while doing this we are facing following this error.

Essentially, we trying to install PTE ext on top of Global ext in prod env . Can you guys please suggest if this is doable or not if yes then any document regarding this is highly appreciated

    You can't modify apps, and certainly not apps on AppSource. You can create an extension with a dependency on the app, and extend the functionality that way, but that will always have to be another app. Even if you get rid of the AppSource app, you will not be able to deploy the modified app through Extension Management, because AppSource apps are only allowed to be deployed from AppSource.

    Hi Raviraj,

    I couldn't find any official documentation regarding this. However it does look like Microsoft does not allow you to deploy a PTE or a DEV deployment on top of a Global deployment. It makes sense as Microsoft probably does not want other developers to make modifications to apps deployment on App Source.

    You can not modify an existing app from appsource.

    You should contact the partner who made the original app.
