Dynamic Text not getting populated in email templates

When I use a new personal email template I created today, the text that should be inserted via the Insert Dynamic Text does not appear. Rather, the "code" for the dynamic text is showing up.

    Hi,

    Did you copy the text along codes to a new template?

    Please make sure when you open the email template in design mode, all dynamic field place holders are highlighted (and are not appearing as plan text):

    If not, delete the codes and re-insert fields.

    Hello Wahaj, 

    I did not copy any text. I used the Insert Dynamic Text function, from the command bar. This is what it looks like, until I save the template (below). Once I save the template the codes change to plain text.

    Did you try re-adding Dynamic Text? Every time you save, it is converted to Plain Text?

    Wahaj, That is correct. I have tried re-adding, re-saving, Global vs Entity (Case), Personal vs Organizational. Just a month ago I was able to create several templates w/o issue. Now, the interface looks different and does not seem to work properly.

    I opened a ticket with Microsoft Support and this was the response:

    We have identified the root cause and are raising a pull request to fix the issue. In order to workaround, please use the legacy template experience via personalization settings.

    Go to the personalization settings -> go to the Email template tab -> from there you can select your template and that will open in legacy web client -> from there you can create and add dynamic values to your template.

    I tried this with the same results converts variables to plain text and doesn't merge.

    Ed, thank you so much for opening the ticket w/Microsoft. Unfortunately, the experience is the same when I go to personalization settings...

    I just read this may be fixed in the April 16, 2021 North America update, from another thread about this issue:

    Hi,

    I tried in my environment an it seems to be working everytime.

    Here is my org. version:

    Microsoft Dynamics 365

    2020 release wave 2 enabled

    Server version: 9.2.21031.00152Client version: 1.4.2362-2103.1
    Anyhow, as Ed mentioned, future release should fix this issue for you.
